MY PAST LIVES
Woman that belonged to a Cathar community, 13th century.
I am not sure about the dates of birth and death, but I do know the facts match those that took place in the region of Languedoc in France during the crusade against Albigensians, where thousands of "heretics" were burnt at the stake in various villages all throughout this region by Catholic Church's Inquisition. I don't remember to have been burnt though. I remember a escape to a fortress up in the mountains with all my family and all our belongings, including the animals.
We were leading a completely normal life in a medieval little town, I still don't know if it was in Carcassonne itself or a nearby place. My husband was a kind man with whom I had built a large home, but he died before our sad end arrived. I was close to 45 years old, perhaps, in those times almost an old woman with gray hair and already a grandmother, when we were forced to leave everything behind because the threat of death at the stake was hovering over us.
At the end there were no bonfires, but there was indeed another terrible slaughter, one more of the many that religions bring.
