MY PAST LIVES
French counter-revolutionary in the region of La Vendée.
I was born in a small fishing village in the Western coast of France that I think I have identified. I am not certain, but it must have been around 1750.
I was a very lively kid who quickly learned to woodwork after fishing with the fishermen for some time. This allowed me to start my own business, related to carpentry. With it I could support my wife and at least one son, maybe more.
It would have been a quite normal life, were it not for the exorbitant taxes we traders had to pay. What we earned was barely enough to survive. Then the revolts started.
In order to repress the protests a whole army was sent. They massacred the population, with no distinction between men, women or children. They had rifles with bayonets and cannons. We had rakes, shovels and stones. We fought until the end.
I was shot down alongside a few women and other men. The year was 1793.
