MY PAST LIVES
Young cowboy in Colorado, toward the end of 19th century.
This was a short but intense life. I can't pin down exact dates, I only know that I lived at the end of 19th century in the state of Colorado.
My father, an American Civil War veteran, owned a ranch, the source of income of all the family.
My elder brother died in a fight with some Indians. His best friend, Johnson, never wanted to tell me the details of that death. Our friendship continued for some time, but to accompany him in his adventures cost me some other beating and at least one night in jail.
Eventually I was left alone with my elder sister and my younger brother, and someone had to take charge of the ranch. In order to do that I had to stand up, accept my responsibility and make clear to Johnson I didn't want to search for a job with him in the mines.
Shortly afterwards, some Indians with whom we had some pending accounts attacked me from behind and killed me. I must have been less than twenty years old.
